The Bonfire 2: Uncharted Shores on Windows PC or Mac

Survival Adventure Sequel

FredBear Games finally released the sequel to their award-winning strategy RPG The Bonfire: Forsaken Lands with a new installment titled The Bonfire 2: Uncharted Shores Survival Adventure. If you never got the chance to play the first game, worry not. The follow-up is even better.

Unlike last time, the developers made The Bonfire 2 entirely free to play. It also comes with a bigger aerial view simulation instead of the linear arena, as seen previously.

As expected, the gameplay is about building a settlement and managing workers. But, this time, you will also help your workers collect magical artifacts and defeat an ancient evil.

Your survival adventure begins by deciding where to build the bonfire. Afterward, you will embark on the journey of constructing the settlement from the ground up.

There are lots of activities in the game to keep you busy. For instance, villagers will need huts to sleep in at night. You will also build the Loggers Camp to store wood, the Carpenter Workshop for crafting items, Guard Towers for those on night watch, among many other buildings.

What starts with just a simple campfire will soon become a village buzzing with activity. However, the unique aspect of this game is that where you place structures can affect gameplay. Therefore, strategic positioning of facilities is one of the features that make The Bonfire 2 stand out from other base-building games.

Recruit Helpful Villagers

Remember the big bonfire that you light up at the beginning of the game? Well, it beckons lost souls. As the game progresses, homeless villagers will express interest in working at your settlement.

You will need all the help you can get because there is a lot of work to do. Villagers gather food, build structures, and work in production buildings.

Although the villagers all share stats such as agility, intelligence, strength, health, hunger, and energy, they come with other unique skills and traits. For instance, those suitable for guarding duties can have qualities like being brave, perceptive, heroic, quick-footed, or having crippling blows and critical strikes.

On the other hand, workers have traits that make them adept at crafting, building, or heading out to sea. For instance, you may recruit some who have the artisan, honest, hardworking, and beast of burden qualities.

Depending on their role, you also have to equip villagers with armor, weapons, and other types of gear. The tools they need are forged from resources you collect in the game.

Work in Daylight Survive the Night

Another feature that makes a comeback in The Bonfire 2: Uncharted Shores game is day and night cycles. When the sun is up, the villagers will be busy building, gathering resources, and hunting for food. At night, they go to sleep and eat to regenerate.

However, nighttime is dangerous since monsters attack the village in the cover of darkness. To survive through the night, guards stay awake to protect villagers who do not yet have huts and have to sleep outside.

Tips & Tricks for Playing The Bonfire 2: Uncharted Shores on PC

• Place the Bonfire Strategically

Villagers who have no huts to sleep in at night tend to rest by the bonfire. When attacked, they scamper for safety into the woods. Therefore, having the fire closer to the forest will make it easier for them to get away quickly from monsters and wild animals and avoid dying.

It is essential not to lose any villager because that would be a wasted resource. Remember to take every precaution to ensure your guards stay alive since getting new ones will depend on whether suitable workers are available to join the camp.

• Build Every Available Structure

Make sure to build every structure as soon as you get the chance to do so. The reason for that is once you put up some of the buildings, they unlock new ones.

For instance, the farm will allow you to set up pasture and a tannery. In addition, you will be able to trade shards to get top-tier flaming/solar weapons that help guards stay alive longer only after building and staffing the Shipyard, Trading Dock, and the three Breweries.

• Level Up Guards Quickly

Guards level up by gaining experience. They acquire very little of this vital resource in the early stages by fighting alone during their guarding duties. The problem with that is they are very vulnerable in the lower levels. Therefore, you have to find a way to level them up quickly.

Guards can level up faster by grinding in certain production buildings like the Loggers Camp, Trading Dock, Clay Pit, Coal Mine, and Iron Mine. Once they reach level 6, you can stop taking them off duty since the training facilities will be accessible. Melee guards train in the Gymnasium, whereas those with the Bowman skill hone their abilities in the Archery Range.

• Collect & Store Hide

Once you slaughter the monsters and wildlife that try to attack villagers at night, make sure to collect the hide from the dead animals. You also need to avoid overstocking the Hunters Lodge with food so that there is some space left to store your skins. Animal hides are essential for crafting, so don’t ignore them.
