Anime RPG with Exciting Storyline
If you are a big fan of the Japanese RPG Tales series, there is another release from Bandai Namco that is worth playing. Titled Tale of Crestoria, it kicks off with an exciting storyline where you play as a young man named Kanata, who ends up committing a crime to protect his friend and master teacher Misella. With the use of vision orbs, citizens of the land put these two characters on trial and find them guilty. Branded as transgressors, they both become fugitives, trying to evade Enforcers who are out to punish them.
Start to explore the plot by downloading Tales of Crestoria today. From iOS to Android, you can install the game on all devices, including on PC as described in this post.
Endless Turn-Based Battles
When it comes to the main action, you will spend much of your time battling foes in the world of Crestoria. Your role is to help Kanata and his allies to defeat those who are out to get them.
Unlike other previous games in the Tales series, this particular release does not feature dynamic combat action. Instead, fighting takes place in a turn-based fashion. So, once your characters make a move one by one, then it becomes the enemy’s turn.
Before going into battle, you assemble a party of six, comprising of four front-liners and two substitutes. Each player on the field will have an HP bar beside their icon, so you can monitor the damage they take during battle.
Besides a normal attack, the characters can use arte skills (which have different cooldown times). Just below the HP gauge, there is another one. That is an over the limit (OL) gauge, which will build up with each action. You charge it up by landing many hits. Once it fills up, the character can unleash a deadly mystic arte (with dramatic cinematic animations).
Actions that build up your OL gauge faster include:
- Using an element the enemy is weak to
- Delivering a critical attack
- Inflicting a a break
- Delivering the final blow
As long as the OL gauge remains full, you can use it any time you want during your turn.
Complete Various Quests
Tales of Crestoria enhances your adventure in the game with a world map and various kinds of quests. The main story is composed of missions that advance the plot. It also features side missions, which offer a nice blend of story segments and battles. Although there are other game modes to explore, you need to proceed through the story to unlock them.
After clearing quests, you earn rewards, which will help you upgrade your characters. Some of the supplies you can expect to gather include element elixirs, food, summon tickets, as well as character EXP (experience) and AP (affinity points).
Keep in mind, though, that quests have conditional missions. For example, the challenge at hand can require you to do something like clear the battle with no KOs, finish within a specified number of turns, and so on. You have to achieve these goals to bag the conditional rewards.
Tales of Crestoria Gacha Summon System
Another fun feature in Tales of Crestoria is the character recruitment system. To summon new talent, this will cost you gleamstones. With 250 of these precious gems, you can add at least one new fighter to your pact. However, it is better to go for a x10 summon (which requires 2,500 gleamstones) because it guarantees at least one SR or above character.
Summoning also allows you to acquire memoria stones. Essentially, these are mana-based crystallizations of powerful feelings and memories. Acquiring certain memoria stones will make new characters join you. Keep in mind, though, you need to win summon tickets from quest rewards in order to acquire memoria stones.
Characters that join you will fight for you in battle. As a result, it is essential to increase their strength. You can do this by equipping memoria stones, which provide a boost on special effects and stats such as HP, DEF, and ATK.
Additionally, there are special sub-stones that provide a boost to your entire team. You can also equip two or more memoria stones of the same type to triggers a ‘same-type bonus’, which offers an even great stats boost.
Finally, Tales of Crestoria offers guilds and other social features that make it even more fun to play. For instance, you can borrow a character from friends and other players. In the same vein, you earn friend points when other players use your characters. With these points, you can perform friend summons
Tips &Tricks for Playing Tales of Crestoria on PC
Complete the Tutorial
If you are new to Tales of Crestoria, the best way to get a solid footing right off the bat is to go through the tutorial. Unlike other games, this is not forced on players. Although you can skip the tutorial, make sure not to do this because it will show you everything you need to know about the gameplay mechanics. From battle skills to summoning and more, there is plenty of information covered that beginners will find helpful.
Discern the Enemy’s Weakness
The elements that characters represent greatly influence their ability to defeat enemies. If you attack an enemy with an element that is vulnerable to yours, this results in more damage. For instance, water tames fire, light overcomes darkness, and so forth. When you see a red arrow pointing upward next to the enemy status bar, it means that the opponent you are about to attack is weaker than the selected character’s element. On the other hand, a blue arrow indicates your adversary is stronger than the selected character. Therefore, make sure to use these indicators to plan your battle strategy.
Take the Best Team to Battle
A strong team is vital if you want to clear battles in Tales of Crestoria with ease. With that in mind, it is in your best interest to include your strongest fighters in the starting lineup. Also, make sure to include a character that matches the suggested element for each quest, which is usually indicated in the details section before you begin a battle mission.
Besides the rewards that you win for completing quests, there are other prizes that you also acquire but have to claim them from different sections in the game. For instance, there is a daily login bonus that drops all kinds of goodies. You can get grape gel, gleamstones, SSR characters, arte tomes, gald coins, and more by just logging into the game once a day to collect your prize. Additionally, the time box unlocks after clearing a few battles in the initial stages. It is a special crate that grants rewards as time goes by. The time box resets every day at 5:00 am and you can claim it up to 4-times per day.
