Save the Day
Hero Department is a fire fighting simulation game where you respond to fire alerts in the city. The goal is to put them out so that those trapped inside don’t get burned.
You could receive a call to put out a fire at a diner, beauty parlor, the police station, someone’s home, or even burning cars involved in a collision. The game rewards you with coins for your heroic efforts. You can then use that money to improve and expand your firefighting operations.
Expand Your Fire Fighting Operations
When the game begins, you start with nothing from scratch. The first actions require you to build a fire headquarters, buy a tank and call the water refilling truck.
With the fundamental assets in place, you will be good to go. Whenever there is a fire, you will hear an alarm and the game zooms to the location to give you an idea of which direction you need to go.
At first, you run solo on foot, but later on, you will be able to buy a fire engine or truck and drive to incident sites. The coins you have will also allow you to recruit firefighters and dispatch rescue squads.
You can only respond to fires from a few houses on a single street in the initial stages. However, when you unlock fire hydrants, spend coins at designated points, or level up the fire department main building, you will be able to respond to fires that break out in more streets.
Ultimately, you will be able to move on to the next city once you unlock all areas in the current one. Although you start from scratch, the game gives you enough coins to build the fire department, buy a tank and call the water truck. The payout for new cities also increases to help you make faster progress.
As you would expect from a typical arcade game, Hero Department gives you different things you can upgrade. For example, it is possible to improve response time by upgrading how fast your firefighters move or drive on the streets. What’s more, you will be able to level up the tank size, water refill speed, truck occupant capacity, recruitment wait time, and buy other upgrades.
Tips & Tricks for Playing Hero Department on PC
• Hire Water Girl
One of the tedious aspects of this game is rushing back to refill the water tank. What’s worse, the water browser has multiple compartments. So this means that once one depletes, you have to reconnect the hose to another container to keep refilling your water tank.
An easier way to manage this task is by hiring a water girl to do it for you. It will cost you nothing other than streaming a short video ad. Keep in mind that the option is not always available, so take advantage of it when it pops up.
• Take Shortcuts
Every building in the Hero Department city is accessible by road. However, you can take shortcuts to reach incident sites faster. If your fire truck can fit, drive between buildings rather than take the long route.
If you don’t respond to a distress call quickly, the fire will spread to other nearby buildings. So, the faster you can take out a fire, the easier your work will be.
• Scout for Fires
Rather than always returning to the water tank at the station, drive or run around the streets after putting out one fire. It can be a time-saving way to scout for incidents. Sometimes a fire might break out when you are very close.
Scout for fires when you know that the water tank is full or has enough quantity that won’t run out when you are in the middle of putting out a fire.
• Keep an Eye on the Water Gauge
Nothing can be more frustrating when playing Hero Department than running out of water when you are in the middle of putting out a fire. That would force you to rush back to the tank to refill it, giving the fire time to spread.
However, you can avoid that by monitoring the water levels in the tank. There is a slider on the left side of your screen to make this easy. As you run out of water, the droplet icon falls. On the other hand, it rises as you fill-up the tank.
Don’t wait around until the water droplet icon is all the way down. Ideally, you want to ensure that it is at least a quarter way up to have enough water to take out fires. If it drops lower than that, make sure to head back to the station to refill your water tank.
• Use Video Ad Offers
As you play the game, options to play video ads will keep popping up. Make sure to stream them because you get various free rewards in exchange. For instance, you can use this option to refill the tank instantly when water runs out in the middle of a rescue operation, saving you the time it would have taken you to do it manually.
Ads also allow you to recruit volunteers, upgrade the tank capacity, add more workers to rescue squads and get free upgrades.
