How to play
How to play Grimvalor on PC (3 Easy Steps):
A Spine-Chilling Thriller
Grimvalor is a game that is as every bit as grim as it sounds. It takes place in a dark fantasy world of the forgotten kingdom of Vallaris. Corrupted by a malicious power, this realm had its inhabitants turn into monsters. You will be playing a lone warrior who was sent to investigate the cause of the darkness that has taken over Vallaris. Your other goal also is to uncover what happened to the kingdom’s lost leader, King Valor. In this pursuit, you will embark on a breathtaking, dangerous, and nail-biting adventure. For the most part, you will be fighting hordes of monstrous creatures. That includes demons, corrupted sentinels, fire breathing statues, and plenty of other spooky beings. Each setting matches the game’s theme. Your journey will take you to dark dungeons, derelict castles, cracked up stone regions, blown out abandoned buildings, and more.
Strap on Your Combat Skills and Stay Sharp
Grimvalor is both an RPG and hack-n-slash platformer with the combat aspect of the game taking more precedence. Initial fights are easy, but they become more challenging and unforgiving the deeper you get into the game. Most of the time, you will find yourself surrounded, outnumbered, outmatched, and all alone. Let your guard down for even a second, and you will find yourself on the losing end of a fight. You can get hit by an axe from someone who you did not even see, find yourself facing enemies that spawn endlessly, or even fall into a trap. It is like the game deliberately makes it almost impossible for you to win.
To excel, you will need a combination of excellent fighting skills and smarts. You should know when to swing your sword, dodge attacks, roll between enemies, or just cut your losses and run. You can also make your character stronger by buying weapons, dressing up in armor, and acquiring trinkets, which bequeath various effects.
Easy to Master Combination Controls
Controls are as simple as it gets – two buttons for right and left movement on one side of the screen and separate buttons for Jump, Dodge, Attack, and on the other. While the controls are few, there is a lot you can do with them. A quick tap on the Jump button will enable you to squeeze through obstacles such as a spiked ceiling and spiked floor. Tapping and holding the same button, on the other hand, will achieve a longer and higher jump while double tapping will see you bounce from the ground and then leap up higher while already in the air. There are also combos for jumping & dashing forward mid-air, light attacks, charged attacks, wall climbs, smash moves, and so much more. The game teaches all the different combinations as you progress, so you only need to remember them.
No Need to Save Play
Leveling up in Grimvalor is very convenient. The game saves your progress automatically and sends you back to the last rest point with all acquired experience and items intact. So, if you were playing and your phone battery suddenly dies, you will not lose much.
Tips and Tricks for Playing Grimvalor on PC
Keep Yourself Healthy
You will be fighting a lot in this game, which means your energy and health will nosedive rather quickly. Luckily, there are rest points along the way that nurse you back to full health. Make sure to stop at each rest point you come across. You can also recover your energy by stopping at the various rest spots featured in the game.
Check your Map to ensure you have Picked up all the Loot
As you traverse through Vallaris, you will come across a ton of loot and treasure. Make sure to grab all of it. The attack button changes into a hand. Tap it to pick up an object. Most of the loot is just littered around in plain sight while some remain hidden in secret passages and high platforms. You will not be able to know if you have picked up all the loot until you check the map. It will show 100 percent when you have managed to collect everything in a given area. If you see anything less than that, backtrack and check places you may have overlooked.
Do not leave soul shards behind as well. Soul shards pop up after you kill an enemy. You must walk over the shards to collect them.
Re-visit Areas When Down on Currency
It goes without saying that you should spend your currency wisely in the game. However, if you find yourself in a tight spot where you cannot seem to get through an Act and do not have the currency to buy better weapons or level up, go back and re-visit areas you have already conquered. Most enemies tend to respawn when you revisit an area. Since you are stronger, it should be relatively easy to take them down and earn extra soul shards in the process. However, do not get too cocky, as it would be embarrassing to die at the hands of an enemy you had already defeated.
