First Refuge: Z for PC: Review, Tips, Tricks & Installing Guide
Survive the Zombie Invasion Underground
From the creators of Wild Frontier and Puzzles & Survival comes another fantastic survival strategy game called the First Refuge: Z. In this release, 37GAMES studio treats players to a post-apocalyptic experience with some base-building elements and combat strategy. You will enter into a world that is under a deadly zombie invasion. The fate of humanity hangs in the balance as a lethal virus ravages the population, infecting people and turning them into vicious walking-dead creatures.
Sinister corporations are behind it all. Now, mutants of their creation roam the wasteland, wreaking havoc everywhere. You will embark on a mission to dismantle their operations as you face fierce zombies, not to mention treacherous bandits fighting for supremacy.
Your goal in the game is to build an underground fortress, expand it, build an army, and fight against the zombie invasion. The best part is that First Refuge: Z offers multiplayer battles. You can form alliances with other players and go on raids to beat powerful enemies and reap epic rewards.
Start your adventure now to conquer the wasteland. For the best experience, make sure to install this game on PC using the instructions shared at the end of this post.
Fortify Your Bunker
Unlike other base-building games where you develop a camp outdoors, things are slightly different in First Refuge: Z. Instead, you will be building an abandoned, shabby bunker that is underground. It has plenty of rooms where you can set up facilities. Part of the game involves clearing monsters from the rooms to eliminate threats.
You will also find residents in some of the rooms. Once rescued, they can be assigned to work in the bunker.
Make your underground fortress the most impenetrable and envied in all the wasteland. You can set up a wide array of stations in it. These include a bakery (food production); warehouse (supply storage); garage (for parking war vehicles); infantry barracks (units training); hospital (treat troops); lumberyard (wood production); command center (communications); armory (weapons); saloon (bar); oil refinery; and steel factory, to name just a few.
You have to keep upgrading the rooms to increase production & storage/capacity. After running out of space, you can move to higher floors to expand the bunker. Remember, however, that zombies could be hiding in connecting rooms. So, you have to clear them before any construction work can begin.
Prepare for Combat
When it comes to the combat aspect of the game, First Refuge: Z offers you various kinds of fighters to help you keep the fortress safe. Firstly, we have heroes who lead the charge when clearing rooms. They are your prized fighters with plenty of power.
Secondly, you can train troops to march in battle when going topside to fight bandits or other factions. Fighting outside the bunker also involves the use of war vehicles.
All your fighters go into battle armed to the teeth with automatic rifles, pistols, shotguns, etc. Hero skills have a cool down effect that makes them unavailable for a few seconds right after being used.
The battles require a bit of strategy. For instance, you have to bring the right kinds of troops and heroes or else suffer defeat. The other aspect that will keep you engaged is the need to level-up and upgrade your fighters.
As you complete battle quests and construction missions, the game will reward you with supplies such as food, wood, captain stamina, hero fragments (required to enter challenges), construction speedups, steel, fuel, cash, hero exp, hero medals, etc. You will use these resources to keep improving your heroes and bunker.
Tips & Tricks for Playing First Refuge: Z on PC
• Finish Your Growth Quests
Growth quests provide you with food and wood. However, you can only claim the rewards after accomplishing the listed goals. They could challenge you with basic tasks like repairing the living quarters, upgrading the command center, fixing the infantry barracks, patching up the warehouse, and so forth. Always load the growth quests screen and launch these missions directly from there.
Once you accomplish all growth quest tasks, your chapter rewards will also be available for claiming. Therefore, make sure to prioritize these missions to maximize the collection of supplies.
• Upgrade Your Heroes
As you gather more of the small and medium hero EXP, make sure to use these resources to upgrade your heroes. Doing so will give your best fighters more power plus a stats boost that increases their attack, defense, health, and march capacity (i.e., the number of troops they are capable of commanding). You will also be leveling them up, and in the process, unlock more hero slots.
• Speed Up Construction
In the game of First Refuge: Z, all kinds of construction, be it building new stations or repairing them, take time to complete. The wait-time could range from a few seconds to several minutes. However, you can spend speedup tokens to complete construction work instantly. You can get plenty of these items as you complete quests. Speedup tokens will help you save time as you expand and upgrade the bunker.
• Ensure Your Squad is Powerful Enough
Before going into battle, you will be able to see the squad power of your entire team of heroes and the power for all the enemies you will face. As a general rule of thumb, don’t go into the battle when overpowered.
If your squad power is less than what the current zombie challenge requires, the chances are that you will lose. Fortunately, it’s possible to increase squad power. All you have to do is upgrade your heroes.
Also, if you have enough fragments, you can promote your heroes. Doing so increases their hero-power, which adds to the team’s overall power as well.
