Hero-Collecting Turn-Based RPG
Exos Heroes is an RPG that features both gacha gameplay mechanics and turn-based combat. The game‘s hero collector base is extensive, offering over 250 characters. Despite the massive number, the champions are quite different. That is because the game uses unique and diverse animations, fun voice acting, and varying skills to create realistic heroes with lovable personalities.
You collect heroes in batches through summoning sessions. And, in each random pull, you can acquire heroes from 5 categories, namely Rare, Legendary, Fated, Magical, and Common.
You will have plenty of chances to test out all the heroes you collect. The reason for that is becauseExos Heroes features endless battles that play out through story-driven gameplay. The game uses a turn-taking structure for combat, whereby you trade attacks with the enemy in turns. With this, gamers can play at their own pace by carefully choosing character moves.
Game Incorporates Unique Combat System
The combat system of Exos Heroes has everything you would expect from a turn-based RPG. For instance, you can expect a stellar visual design with cool colorful character abilities, great art-style graphics, and amazing animations. The intricacies of the combat system, however, stand out from the rest.
First off is a Guardian Stone and Break system. Every foe and friend will have a guardian stone from one of six elements (Light, Dark, Frost, Nature, Fire, & Machinery) during fights. Attacking the enemy using a character with a similar stone will break the enemy, rendering them unable to fight for several rounds (usually seven or more). As a result, this makes it effortless to take down the broken character without taking a hit to your character’s HP.
Another unique thing about Exos Heroes is the mana system. Unlike other games where a character automatically generates mana while dishing out attacks, mana is awarded based on hero type. There are four types of heroes; Attack, Chaos, Defensive, and Support. The first two gain a single point of mana when they attack. On the other hand, the rest gain mana when attacked.
Once a character’s mana bar is full, the hero can unleash their special skill. Additionally, every hero has two more skills you can use as the mana bar fills up. A character’s guardian stone also comes into play with mana generation. Dark heroes, for instance, can generate one mana point for every defeated ally on their squad at the beginning of your turn. You will be able to learn how each character regenerates by looking into their skills.
A Wealth of Content and Play Systems on Offer
With Exos Heroes, you do not have to worry about falling into a monotonous pattern where you follow through story battles, collect loot, and level up. If anything, you will find it hard to put down the game owing to the wealth of available gameplay options.
For the daily grind, there is a continuous story mode. It will keep you busy fighting all manner of enemies and unlocking more game modes such as the daily dungeon, hero battles, guild PvP, and the ordinary multiplayer.
What’s more, the game has a host of side quests. They include a massive world you can explore at will, the challenges menu that drops extra resources plus a dispatch mode that involves sending your heroes out on missions where they will come back after a few hours with goodies. You will also find several mini-games such as the frog race and rescue your colleagues.
Tips & Tricks for Playing Exos Heroes
Get Top-Tier Heroes Early On
The secret to being unbeatable in this game is to collect the best heroes. Having even just one 5-star hero on your side will make it easy to breeze through battles.
As a newbie, you get one shot at infinite re-rolls where you can choose your desired batch of heroes. For this, you will need to head to the ‘Recruitment’ menu, tap on ‘Selection Recruit’, and then choose the (i) symbol. You will receive a batch of x10 heroes, at which point you can tap the Select button followed by ‘summons’ then ‘check the results’ to view star rating and skills of the presented heroes. If there are one or more top tier heroes, tap the ‘selection complete’ option to acquire the heroes. On the other hand, hit the ‘reselect’ button for a reroll of another batch of heroes if the presented options are only low star heroes.
Break Enemies Swiftly
Before making your first move during a battle, check which enemy you can break. It is a surefire way to take down even the toughest of enemies and leave the other side weaker. Besides, if you do not capitalize on the opportunity of a break, chances are the enemy will break one of your heroes, especially during PvP battles.
With new enemies, the guardian stone remains hidden, which means you will have to hit them with different elemental attacks to discover their weakness. Once an enemy’s stone reveals, you should fire a break assault followed by multiple attacks from your heroes to end the character quickly.
Aim for 3 Stars at Every Stage
With Exos Heroes, winning is not always about taking down the other side. At every stage of a battle, there are specific missions you will have to fulfill to get a perfect 3-star score. The game will continue if you win a round but fail to finish a quest. However, it is always best to net 3-stars because you will earn additional rewards, including more currency.
Missions include tasks like completing a battle in a certain number of turns, finishing with all characters surviving, breaking particular units, or even making zero breaks during a fight.
A bit of strategy is necessary on your part to get 3-stars for every stage. For example, if the round requires you to avoid breaking any foes, a prudent move would be to ensure that none of your heroes on the battleground have a similar guardian stone as the enemy.
The game does provide pre-mission information detailing what characters will be fighting, their guardian stone if already unlocked, and the specific mission targets. Therefore, this should give you an idea of what direction to take with your battle plan.
Use the Exploration Feature
Like with all RPGs, exploration features prominently in Exos Heroes, and it is one activity that you should certainly take on. You can find characters, side quests, upgrades, and so much more by running around the game’s massive world.
The exploration feature also has two idle modes with which you can continue collecting rewards when not playing. First is Smart Exploration that enables you to continue exploring after you have logged out of the game. Secondly, you can engage in active exploration, where you leave your device on all day, and the game will automatically explore for you. Although tricky on mobile, you can easily leave the game playing in the background as you attend to other tasks by installing Exos Heroes on your PC.
