Battle for World Domination
Evo Pop is an exciting arcade strategy game from the developers who gave us masterpiece hits like Bullet Echo and CATS: Crash Arena Turbo Stars. It takes place in a world where one-eyed, square-shaped creatures call home. Known as Evos, they live in colonies, feeding off grass and trees. The Evos also have a unique ability to grow and breed extremely fast.
These creatures may appear harmless and cute, but looks can be deceiving. They have an insatiable appetite for other rival Evos of a smaller size and different species. Their goal is world domination.
You will fight opponents in this game and strive to create an entire colony from one Evo. Outnumber your rivals or eat them all; those are the only two ways to win.
Spell Casting Gameplay
Evo Pop pits three players against each other. Playing matches consumes energy, which recovers by one unit every 30 minutes.
Everyone starts with a single Evo. From there, the goal is to grow and feast on rivals and wipe them out or multiply as quickly as possible to outnumber them.
Evos multiply or grow as they eat the foliage in their surroundings. However, you can also use spells to speed up their ability to expand and start eating the rival colonies.
At the bottom of the screen, the game offers a time bar with icons representing all the skills that you can use. To cast a spell, you drag it onto any group of Evos in the arena.
Spells also have varying costs displayed next to their corresponding portraits. Each time you deploy one, the amount to cast it gets deducted from the time bar, which then recharges slowly as the battle continues.
There are over 15 different species to unlock, and each one comes with unique spells. For instance, the original blue Evo uses the offspring spell to create instant copies of itself. You can also use ‘grow’ to make it bigger, ‘explosion’ to knock off rivals far away, or ‘impulse’ to jump on enemies right after birth.
In contrast, the balloon Evo can subdivide large pieces into smaller ones, stack up into a tower to fall on rivals, or attract nearby small enemies using the magnet spell.
You will discover more spells as you collect new Evo species from chest rewards.
Unlock New Game Worlds
Another feature you will love in Evo Pop is the dozens of worlds that unlock based on your progress. Chasms, hills, and foliage are part of each arena. But, you will discover new and unique weather and elements in the other worlds that you will unlock, which makes the game more fun. The Oasis, for instance, makes it easier for Evos to move from one point to another, thanks to smoldering volcanoes that throw these creatures into the air.
To unlock the next landscape, you will need to collect trophies by defeating enemies.
Tips & Tricks for Playing Evo Pop on PC
• Collect Mission Rewards
By completing missions, you get Evo Pass rewards. These are points that qualify you for tons of resources for upgrades.
On the missions tab, you will find a list of tasks. For instance, the challenges could be to eat a specific amount or type of Evos, play a certain number of rounds, win x battles, and so on.
When you see a number surrounded by a red circle on the missions tab, it means there are Evo Pass points available for claiming.
• Check for Offers
If you are looking to get one of the optional in-app purchases for an advantage in the game, the offers section is the place to check. However, you will also find a free chest there that offers Evo cards and coins. Once you claim it, another one will be available after 5 hours. So, make sure to keep checking.
• Upgrade Your Evos
Although you will acquire different Evo species as the game progresses, some of the skills for each of the different varieties will not be available to use right away.
If you want to unlock spells, you have to upgrade Evos. Doing so increases their power or ability to eat more rivals. It also helps your Evos to gain new ranks. The upgrades will cost you coins and Evo cards, which you will acquire after winning battles.
• Play to the Strength of Each Evo
A smart way to play this game is to develop your strategy around the strengths of the different Evo species that are at your disposal. For example, the original blue Evos can get really big and multiply very fast when using the ‘grow’ and ‘offspring’ spells. Therefore, this species excels at feasting on the competition.
On the other hand, the Balloon species grows automatically but does not multiply unless you use the ‘subdivide’ spell to break-up big Evos into smaller ones. Therefore, you can keep sub-diving larger pieces to win the battle with numbers. The first side to breed up to 300 Evos will automatically win the match.
• Collect Gems
Besides coins, which are the main currency in Evo Pop, there are also the more premium and rare gems. These will buy you more energy, Evo cards, or chests that come full of coins. You will get tons of free gems after unlocking a new world or reaching certain Evo Pass milestones. Therefore, keep winning as many battles as possible and working on your missions to increase the chances of getting more gems.
